After 21 years, through the Buyers Mission (BTM), Costa Rica’s Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER) has managed to earmark September as the month dedicated to new business and opportunities for the country’s export sector. Just days away from a new edition, the most important business conference of the Central American region expects to receive more than 250 international buyers, from 40 countries, and over 500 Costa Rican exporters.
From September 17 to 19 companies from the agricultural, food and specialized industries will come together in a match making forum at the Costa Rica Convention Center.
For Dyalá Jiménez, Minister of Foreign Trade, the BTM has become a symbol of the new opportunities PROCOMER offers to the Costa Rican export sector as part of a commitment that both the institution and the sector have with the country’s economic development. “The Promoter has managed to position itself as a strategic partner for both new and regular exporters, offering them the possibility to travel the world with their products, demonstrating the quality that makes our goods unique. This trade show contributes to the diversification of the exportable offer and helps consolidate new markets for our products,” she added.
Pedro Beirute Prada, General Manager at PROCOMER, said that the exportable offer presented during the BTM is a reflection of the core concepts of the Institutional Strategic Plan for 2019-2022. “We want to show that Costa Rica is a country with a great vision. We expect buyers from all over the world to learn about Costa Rica’s exportable offer, characterized by inclusion, innovation and sustainability. The BTM is a platform for both SMEs and large companies to create and consolidate business relationships, while validating with international buyers the trends they apply in their products,” he explained.
In addition to the match making forum, participants can take advantage of other specialized forums, boardrooms, familiarization tours of the productive sectors, product displays and the final stage of the Seedstars entrepreneurship competition, among others.
According to Rebeca Zumbado, Marketing Manager of Callizo Aromas, the BTM is like a big window display that has allowed her company to come into contact with potential clients, that otherwise would not have been possible, improve the presentation of her commercial offer and coordinate visits to the company for those clients most interested in our offer.
“Callizo Aromas will participate in the BTM again; on this occasion, we expect to have a lot of contact with buyers from Mexico, since by the end of this year the new Callizo Aromas plant will already be operating in this country,” he added.
