With the objective of increasing the commercial development of at least 20 SMEs in the food industry, specialized industry and chemical-pharmaceutical sector, through the development of new products and the presentation of a solid value proposition at the international level, Costa Rica’s Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER) and Siemens company have joined forces by way of a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of the Solid Edge Startups program.
As part of the program, and through the use of Siemens technology, such as software tools used for design, rendering and simulation, companies can develop prototypes of products that solve a real need and open doors for them in international markets.
According to Pedro Beirute Prada, General Manager at PROCOMER, “the Promoter is constantly looking for tools that allow Costa Rican companies to enter and excel in international markets. In Siemens we found the perfect way to develop innovative products through world-class technology, placing the national offer in the eye of potential buyers, following the line of fostering businesses with a purpose and generating a sustainable and inclusive exportable offer, based on the he institutional strategy of international positioning.
“We not only seek to do business, but also meet the needs of society and address its greatest challenges. Which is why Siemens will channel efforts and resources to achieve the adoption of digitalization in Costa Rica through the support of small and medium enterprises, and innovation laboratories,” explained Alejandro Canela Martínez, Vice President and Country Manager of Siemens PLM.
Pablo Riba Chaves, General Manager at Siemens Costa Rica, went on to say, “One of fundamental principles is “Business to Society”. This is not just a catch phrase, it is our aspiration for the social contribution we make every day to shape the elements that society needs for its development.”
The Solid Edge-Startups program will be divided into 3 stages:
1. Pilot Plan and Competition
2. Awareness, Training and Development
3. Prototype and Internationalization
Throughout the development of the program the participating companies will be provided with support and training by PROCOMER, ensuring that at the end of the program each one has a prototype and a robust business plan for international markets.
The Memorandum of understanding was signed under the framework of the Buyers Mission (BTM), on September 18 by Pedro Beirute Prada, General Manager at PROCOMER and Manuel Alejandro Canela Martínez, Vice President & Country Manager of Siemens PLM Mexico.
