San Jose, July 20, 2020. After 21 successful in-person and uninterrupted editions, the most important business conference in the Central American region -Buyers Trade Mission (BTM) – will be held this year totally virtual and free, and expects the participation of at least 400 exporters from the agricultural sectors, food and specialized industry, as well as 200 buyers from more than 20 countries in Asia, Europe and America. The event will run for three weeks, from October 5 to 23, one week per sector.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and President of the Board of Directors of PROCOMER, Dyalá Jiménez, indicated that BTM is the perfect occasion to remind the world that Costa Rica has a resilient export sector with a quality, innovative and diverse exportable offer.
“Crises always teach us lessons and turn into opportunities. Right now we are adjusting to the new normal, which is largely digital, allowing business to continue its course across various platforms. We are taking advantage of these digital possibilities to offer buyers the best of our exportable offer and showing them that Costa Rica continues to supply the world with quality products, freshness, security and passion, like our Country Brand”, said Jiménez.
Costa Ricans manage to export for the first time, or to consolidate in international markets. This year will not be the exception. “For a few months we have been developing virtual activities such as the BTM, both nationally and internationally. We have obtained positive results and we feel prepared and excited to start with this BTM, which we are sure will generate many business opportunities for all sectors”.
Dynamics of the event
As in the face-to-face editions, at BTM 2020 there will be “one-to-one” meetings between exporters and international buyers, previously agreed upon and based on the buyer’s interest in acquiring Costa Rican products. For this reason, it is vitally important that the national exporter has virtual promotional material so that they can show their value proposition in detail and make deals.
In addition, the event will have a virtual showroom in which 300 companies will have the opportunity to show their products and added value in greater detail such as quality, safety, sustainability certifications, etc.
Registration for exporters are open until August 14 on the platform available on the website www.btmcr.com. In addition, participants have time to send the deliverables until the indicated deadline.
The requirements and / or deliverables that exporting companies must meet are the following:
• Have the Exporter Diagnosis with the categories indicated for each sector in the document “selection criteria” and meet those criteria.
• They must offer products with Costa Rican origin and have at least 2 years of sale in the national or international market.
• Have a website and / or active social networks.
• Have access to a computer (not cell phone) with a built-in microphone and camera, as well as internet.
• Have digital promotional material.
