{"id":5754,"date":"2024-01-26T14:14:49","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T14:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new-procomer.local\/procomer-participates-in-the-fitur-fair-to-attract-fdi-in-tourism-infrastructure\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T13:54:56","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T19:54:56","slug":"procomer-participates-in-the-fitur-fair-to-attract-fdi-in-tourism-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/procomer.com\/en\/procomer-participates-in-the-fitur-fair-to-attract-fdi-in-tourism-infrastructure\/","title":{"rendered":"PROCOMER participates in the FITUR fair to attract FDI in tourism infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><main role=\"main\" id=\"main\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Costa Rican delegation comprises 39 companies engaged in tourism.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>PROCOMER participates with ICT in FITUR 2024 as part of the cooperation agreement between both institutions.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAN JOS\u00c9, Costa Rica,\u00a0Jan. 25, 2024\u00a0\/PRNewswire\/ &#8212; The <\/span><strong>Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(PROCOMER) participates in the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR 2024, to strengthen the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in tourism infrastructure outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gran \u00c1rea Metropolitana<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(GAM)).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The above is part of the cooperation agreement between the Costa Rican Tourism Board (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instituto Costarricense de Turismo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(ICT)), the Ministry of Foreign Trade (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministerio de Comercio Exterior<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(COMEX)), and PROCOMER, which seeks to promote joint coordination of activities \u2013 between the ICT and PROCOMER \u2013 to strengthen the national strategy for attracting FDI to Costa Rica for the 2023-2026 period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;With great pride and commitment, we undertake a new foreign direct investment challenge for the country. Our participation in this fair, together with the ICT and the companies comprising the national delegation, will set a precedent for Costa Rica in terms of attracting investments, especially to bring more opportunities for employment and well-being to different areas of our country and for the Costa Ricans who live there. For us, it is extremely important that this sector continue to strengthen itself in the country, as it is an engine for development and employment for many places outside the Greater Metropolitan Area,&#8221; commented Laura L\u00f3pez, General Manager of PROCOMER.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agreement, signed at the end of last year, also makes it possible to follow up on reinvestment opportunities for tourism infrastructure and the services associated with the sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, the fair \u2013 considered one of the most important global tourism business events, which opens the international tourist fair calendar \u2013 takes place from January 24 to 28 in the IFEMA fair exhibition venue in Madrid, Spain, and is considered a record edition, as it brings together 9,000 participating companies, 152 countries and 806 exhibitors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Tourism is a driving force for progress and this commitment between ICT and PROCOMER reflects the joint commitment to contribute to the sustainable development and well-being of several local communities by attracting foreign direct investment. We coordinated a strategy to generate employment, diversify the tourism offering and the production linkages in keeping with the country&#8217;s tourism development model,&#8221; said William Rodr\u00edguez, Minister of Tourism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The country is represented by 39 companies engaged in the sector through the\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esencial<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Costa Rica booth, in which they showcase the best of local tourism, strengthen current connections, and promote new investment linkages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Our country is a prestigious, established tourist destination globally.
