San José, April 24, 2025. This week, Costa Rica will host the MPO Medtech Forum, one of the world’s most prominent international conferences focused on outsourcing for medical device manufacturing. Organized by Medical Product Outsourcing (MPO), the event will take place on April 24 and 25 at the Costa Rica Convention Center, bringing together global experts to address the main challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
The Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER), the country’s official agency for foreign direct investment attraction and export promotion, will play an active role in the forum, with two key interventions positioning Costa Rica as a global benchmark in advanced manufacturing and medical technologies.
At the opening of the event, Mónica Umaña, PROCOMER’s Investment Manager, will deliver the official welcome and highlight the competitive advantages that have made Costa Rica a world-class hub for medical device manufacturing.
“Costa Rica has developed extensive experience in the medical device sector. Evidence of this is that we are home to 13 of the world’s 25 largest companies in this industry. The creation of an investment-friendly ecosystem for the sector has established us as a key global player. That is why it is an honor to host the MPO Medtech Forum and share best practices, as well as the unique value proposition we offer the world,” said Umaña.
PROCOMER will also participate in the panel, “Lessons Learned from Setting Up a Plant in Costa Rica,” which will provide practical recommendations for companies interested in starting operations in the country. This panel will be moderated by Patrick Lynch, Principal at chainLEANk Solutions, and will feature leading voices from the national ecosystem:

In 2024, medical devices accounted for 44% of Costa Rica’s total goods exports. The United States, the Netherlands, and Belgium were the markets with the highest growth, consolidating Costa Rica as one of the leading exporters of medical technologies in Latin America.
